What the treatment fee covers

Initial Diagnostic Assessment

An initial assessment involves a full consultation via telehealth, lasting approximately 45-60min. You will be sent a set of questionnaires and consent forms to complete before your appointment (usually by email, we can also send by snail mail though this will slow down the time it takes to see you). The questionnaires ask about what you hope to get from the treatment and about your current health and lifestyle. You will also be asked about any medication you are taking.

During the consultation we will chat further about your questionnaire responses so that we can understand better how your condition is affecting you. We will discuss the number and frequency of treatments that you are likely to need to meet your health goals. We will also set a date to review how we are progressing against those goals. At this point, this is only an indicator based on previous experience. After your first 2-3 treatments we will gain a better idea of how you quickly or slowly, you specifically, are responding to treatment and we will give you a more accurate forecast. Generally, the longer you have had a specific condition the more treatment will be needed to reduce the symptoms.

The assessment by telehealth is followed by a mini treatment within the clinic. In this mini treatment we will use just a few, well chosen needles to begin your treatment programme. If you choose to have acupuncture, then you will have a limited number of needles inserted (usually 4-6) for your first treatment so that we can assess your reaction and ensure you are comfortable. If you don’t want to have acupuncture then we will agree an alternative treatment. This might include cupping, acupressure massage, moxa and/or ear seeds. Any treatment will be targeted specifically to your health needs.

Follow Up Acupuncture/TCM Treatment

Once you have completed an initial assessment, you will be invited to book future appointments according to the number and frequency discussed during the consultation.

Follow up treatments begin with a short discussion about any changes since your last treatment. This could be changes to your symptoms or to your lifestyle generally, both are important.

Next you will receive a treatment tailored especially for you. This treatment will usually last around 20min. Following treatment we may also discuss lifestyle advice that could help you to achieve your health goals quicker.

Paying your treatment Fees

You can pay your treatment fees by credit/debit card.

Do you have a health plan that covers or contributes to your acupuncture treatment fees?

If you have private health insurance, or pay into a health plan, you may be able to reclaim some or all of your acupuncture treatment fees. Many providers approve treatment by British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) members, check here to see whether yours is listed. Policy details vary however, so please check with your healthcare provider if reclaiming your fees makes the difference between booking or not.
